The Dane County Sheriff’s Office continues to search for the male suspect in last night’s armed robbery at the Bank of Deerfield on Shaul Lane.
Deputies responded to the bank at 5:10 PM on Tuesday, October 27th, after a man armed with a handgun arrived as employees were closing for the day. Two bank employees were restrained and forced to surrender an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect fled in a Lincoln MKZ he stole from the parking lot. The vehicle was found a short time later, abandoned on State Farm Road. K9 and drone searches were conducted in the area without success.
“This is the type of crime for which Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology can serve as a valuable investigative resource. It could help detectives identify vehicles connected to the crime, establish possible travel routes, and develop leads that might otherwise be difficult to uncover,” said Sheriff Kalvin Barrett. “We should be working smarter, not harder, by using ALPR’s to enhance public safety, while supporting our commitment to the responsible and appropriate use of such resources.”
Anyone with information or video evidence related to this crime is asked to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014 or visit P3TIPS.com.
