Sysco Urges Teamsters Locals 630 and 848 to End Strike as Parties Agree Economic Terms

Strike is not about wages, benefits or other economic terms; the sole unresolved issue is union-demanded language that could permit strikes at any time, disrupting essential deliveries across Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 11, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sysco Corporation (NYSE:SYY), the leading global foodservice distribution company, today called on Teamsters Locals 630 and 848 to end their strike at Sysco’s Los Angeles facility and finalize an agreement. The parties have agreed on fair, generous and competitive wages, pension contributions, benefits and time off. The sole unresolved issue is union-demanded language that could permit strikes at any time, exposing customers and communities to repeated service disruption.

Sysco’s final offer provides an $8.00-per-hour wage increase by April 2027, with wage growth of more than 40% over the contract term. It also includes increased pension contributions and pension-eligible hours, a sixth week of vacation after 30 years of service, and double-time pay after 12 hours. By October 2029, the top hourly rate would exceed rates in a recently ratified agreement with another major foodservice distributor.

“We value our Los Angeles colleagues and have negotiated in good faith to agree a highly competitive economic package that delivers meaningful improvements in wages, pension contributions, benefits and time off,” said Ron Phillips, Sysco’s Chief Human Resources Officer. “The sole remaining issue is proposed language that could permit work stoppages at any time. We cannot support terms that expose hospitals, schools, restaurants and other local customers to repeated disruption. We urge the union to end the strike so we can finalize an agreement that rewards our colleagues and protects the dependable service our customers count on.”

The strike risks disrupting service across the Los Angeles area. Sysco remains committed to bargaining in good faith and reaching a complete agreement that delivers the economic terms already agreed, while protecting the service that hospitals, care facilities, schools, restaurants and other local customers rely on.
